THE DIVINE BLUE

Contemporary Indigo artist Kaimurai stands out for his integrity and quiet expressiveness. Kaimurai — the artist avatar of Abishek Ganesh — translates from Tamil to mean “method of hand”. Working with Indigo on khadi, Kaimurai immerses himself in a meditative flow influenced by the mysticism of Carnatic music. The artist aligns his hours of creativity to the temperament of Indigo, which is at its highest efflorescence during the cool hours of dawn and in the deep night. The result is a work of art imbued with intentionality, spirituality and vitality.

Kaimurai’s collaboration with KAASH presents a series of Indigo on Khadi artworks. The visual metaphor of growth emerging from the ground is articulated with fluid textiles spanning floor to ceiling. The textiles carry Kaimurai’s painterly, abstract strokes, with exquisite rhythm and depth.

Through this installation and the larger premise of ‘The Divine Blue’, we celebrate Indigo in all her restorative, spiritual beauty. The show started on the 5th of December and ends on the 25th of December 2022.
