About artist:
Riyaz uddin
Riyazuddin set up his studio in 1988, where he has been developing his own language of contemporary Miniature paintings. His language is one that is deeply rooted in the visual vocabulary of Rajput painting while employing contemporary sensibilities, resulting in a delightfully surreal personal aesthetic.
For this exhibition, Riyazuddin has created two sets of works. One is a festive series of Gods playing on illuminated leather. It is a unique set of works that were created in collaboration with KAASH, and it is part of our series of ‘collectible craft.’ These leather works were engineered by the KAASH team to produce pieces that sit at the intersection between art and design. Another set of works represent the artist’s ongoing explorations into contemporary storytelling within a traditional framework. Riyazuddin is the recipient of multiple state and national awards and currently lives and works in Jaipur, Rajasthan.
