At EVOKE London and KAASH, we’re inspired by the philosophy of Vasudeva Kutumbakam —"the world is a family"— reflecting a universal impetus to express through creative practices. We explore craft rooted in tradition, sharing handmade stories with an eye on the future.
The EVOKE gallery in Marylebone Village (London city’s artistic-designer hub) is made up of objects collected from travels across Africa, South Asia and beyond – each a storied entity, ripe with the vitality of its maker. The gallery is a destination of discovery for interior designers, collectors, creatives, museum curators, and passers-by.
The gallery’s revolving (and evolving!) collection is punctuated with collaborations with artists and makers who’ve become our friends along the way. EVOKE just launched a special capsule of timeless apparel by Asami Nagashima Sarabhai of r a s a i an Ahmedabad-based studio.
This EVOKE exhibition carries cultural objects - ceremonial and quotidian - from several African nations. The objects sit in dialogue with pieces crafted closer to home – in makers' workshops connected to KAASH. The exhibition is rounded off with a series of textile artworks created by Asami, responding to the colours and patterns of our collection on display.
