Pleasure Cruising

Gargi Chandola is a self-taught artist who primarily creates works on paper, zines, and large-scale murals. Gargi is currently training under master artisans in the Pahari school of painting, exploring the nuances and aesthetics of the style. She is a co- founder of the multi-disciplinary arts studio Post-Art Project. Her works in this exhibition delve into human notions of territory, power and the isolation of the mind. The monkeys ostensibly mimic human behaviour—they are a reflection of the self, engaging in petty and perverse mind games, as well as violence and trickery to get to the bananas. Bananas, then, and their obvious phallic shape, become a recurring tool to establish dominance—the ultimate possession for both species. Gargi’s works have been exhibited in India and London, and she currently lives and works in New Delhi
