Sunita comes from a long line of women artists from the Meena tribe, one of the oldest tribes in Rajasthan. She inherited her craft by watching her mother and grandmother adorn the mud walls and floors of their home with patterns using alabaster clay or ‘khadia mitti’. She now lives and works in Sawai Madhopur with her family near Jaipur.
At KAASH, Sunita’s artworks take on a graffiti-like character, creating a dream-like world of animal and plant life with layered, interpretive narratives. Traditional mud surfaces are swapped for a wood base and acrylic paint, creating a new surface texture.
